The treatment usually starts with a consultation where we discuss style, expectations and I also ask you a few questions about your health, because it’s important to me that you feel comfortable. I then apply a local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. I then inject pigment into the skin using a tattoo machine and a hand tool. The process usually takes 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity of the style chosen.
Healing usually takes up to a week, during which time mild swelling and peeling may occur. It is important that you follow the aftercare instructions I discussed with you for best results and to prevent infection. These instructions may include avoiding make-up, avoiding touching the affected area and keeping it clean.
Although discomfort varies, most of my clients experience minimal pain thanks to the local anaesthetic.
Modifications and removal are possible but can be complicated and costly. It is worth seriously considering the commitment before starting the process.
An eyelid tattoo can last from 1 to 5 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle and sun exposure. Periodic touch-ups can help maintain the intensity and precision of the lines.
